Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby
A duo celebrated for their epic contribution to contemporary design, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby founded their award-winning studio Barber Osgerby in 1996, after they met studying architecture at the Royal College of Art. Designing furniture, installations and interiors for a global audience, the duo challenges the boundaries of design with an exploratory attitude to materiality and colour.
Among their many achievements, Barber Osgerby have worked with prestigious brands such as Vitra, Cappellini, Hermès and Louis Vuitton across many media including furniture, lighting, textiles tiles and architectural projects. The duo is also responsible for the design of the 2012 Olympic torch and the renowned Bellhop Lamp for the opening of the London Design Museum, championed by our late founder Sir Terence Conran.
Their professional accolades include the London Design Medal in 2015, twice-winners of the Jerwood prize in 2004 and 2007, and in 2013 the pair were awarded OBEs for their services to the design industry. Examples of their impressive works are held in the permanent collections of London’s Design and V&A Museums, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
