Martha Freud is a British artist and designer known for her delicately constructed ceramics displaying playful slogans. Walking the line between wordplay and philosophical reflection, Freud’s work is refreshingly earnest and thoughtfully crafted. The artist has recently returned to the public eye after a period of reprieve working on private commissions; we are honoured to premiere her debut collection with The Conran Shop.
Each piece from ‘Eat My Words,’ Freud's first tableware collection, and ‘Lit,’ her signature scented candles, is exclusively available at The Conran Shop in limited editions, uniting art with function. Employing the craft as has never been seen before, these collections combine classic style with Freud’s signature wit, pushing the boundaries of propriety with daring and refreshingly honest musings.
Glazed in three complementing colours, the porcelain tableware explores our relationship with food and our experiences around a table, while the ceramic candle offering presents four signature fragrances inspired by the notion of the hearth, representing the feeling of coming together around a fire in love, connection and the creativity of storytelling; discover more on the Journal.
